This policy explains ownership, learner licensing, anti-piracy controls and reporting procedures across the Lex Orbis Education website and learning ecosystem.
1. Rights holder and scope
Lex Orbis Education (OPC) Private Limited ("Lex Orbis Education") asserts its rights in its eligible original works and proprietary materials, including original website copy and editorial arrangement, course curricula and manuscripts, lecture scripts, notes, slides, question banks, assessments, templates, original graphics and artwork, videos and recordings, compilations involving original selection or arrangement, and proprietary website/LMS software and source code. Rights may also be held by identified authors, licensors or other contributors where expressly stated.
2. Public-domain and third-party material
Lex Orbis Education does not claim ownership merely over statutes, rules, regulations, judgments, government publications, examination notifications, public-domain materials or third-party works. Where such material is used lawfully for education, any Lex Orbis Education claim is limited to eligible original expression such as commentary, explanations, annotations, headnotes, questions, examples, diagrams, selection, arrangement, formatting, teaching sequence and other original additions. Third-party rights remain with their respective owners.
3. Limited learner licence
An enrolled learner receives only a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access authorised course content for individual educational use during the applicable access period. Enrolment, payment or access does not transfer ownership of any copyright, source code, brand asset, database, course manuscript, recording or other intellectual property.
4. Prohibited copying and redistribution
Except where applicable law expressly permits otherwise or Lex Orbis Education gives prior written permission, users must not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, sublicense, mirror, scrape, systematically extract, screen-record, rebroadcast, upload to file-sharing or social platforms, share account credentials, create substitute course repositories, remove ownership notices or watermarks, circumvent access controls, or use protected materials to build or distribute competing course content, datasets or machine-learning training corpora.
5. Technical protection and traceability
The learning platform may use authenticated access controls, private storage, personalised learner/session watermarks, access logs, no-cache controls, copy/print restrictions and other proportionate security measures. These measures are intended to deter misuse, identify unauthorised sharing and preserve evidence. No technical measure can make copying physically impossible, and the existence or absence of a technical control does not waive legal rights.
6. Course recordings, downloads and screenshots
A download, screenshot or locally stored copy remains subject to the same limited learner licence. A file marked downloadable is not licensed for redistribution. Recording live or recorded classes, extracting audio, capturing substantial portions of course screens, or circulating course material outside the authorised learner account is prohibited unless expressly permitted in writing or protected by a non-excludable legal exception.
7. Software, platform and databases
The Lex Orbis Education website, LMS, administrative tools, source code, software architecture, original user-interface assets, proprietary data structures and original compilations are proprietary unless a particular component is expressly identified as third-party or open source. Third-party packages remain governed by their own licences. No public-facing access grants a licence to clone, host, reverse engineer, redistribute or commercially exploit proprietary platform code except to the extent such restriction cannot lawfully apply.
8. Enforcement and account action
Where there is credible evidence of unauthorised copying, credential sharing, piracy or circumvention, Lex Orbis Education may preserve relevant evidence, suspend or terminate access in accordance with applicable terms, issue platform or hosting takedown requests, seek injunctive or monetary relief and use other civil, criminal or statutory remedies available under applicable law. Any action will remain subject to applicable law, due process and mandatory consumer protections.
9. Copyright reports and takedown requests
A rights holder who believes material on the platform infringes their rights, or a person reporting unauthorised copying of Lex Orbis Education material, may contact Lex Orbis Education through the website contact channel. A report should identify the work, the allegedly infringing material or location, the reporting party's authority, relevant supporting evidence and contact information sufficient to evaluate the request.
10. Statutory exceptions preserved
Nothing in this policy is intended to remove, contract out of or misrepresent any exception, limitation, fair-dealing right, educational use, accessibility right, consumer right or other protection that cannot lawfully be excluded. The scope and enforceability of rights depend on the nature of the work and applicable law.
